Sure I could make things in other engines, but nothing is as easy for a novice as this software. So I have fallen back in love with RPG Maker.
So now that I've introduced MV to her she spends hours just making maps, that I then code up for her. The pixi.js is a fun engine to mess with and I love the ease of scripting and the debug window.Īt the end of the day I love this software because my wife loves creation games like Happy Home Designer, Minecraft, DQ Builders. Now MV is out and I love the power it has. Spent 20 hours messing around then stopped. Now I am back to using RPG Maker again, I bought the VX Ace humble bundle back in '14 but wasn't very interested in it. I never used 2003 or anything after until VX Ace. I loved the freedom it gave and I prototyped a lot with the software. The first exe that released officially was completely smooth in fullscreen for a lot of people until they decided to change it. One that would make the current EXE switch its graphic engine between old and new.
However, until your game is on steam proper you really have no way of getting them in there. There should be at least a patch that comes with RPG Maker 2000. There are some RPG Maker games that have steam achievements like Always Sometimes Monsters. Then I go to college and Don Miguel released his version of RPG Maker 2k. If your game is on steam you can talk to valve about getting steamworks put in. I spent so much time making a game in it and it was so tedious entering text with a Dpad!
